Executive and Advisory Team
SmartyPig's Executive Team is laced with entrepreneurial spirit and comprised of
experts in banking, security, privacy, consumer and financial Internet, start-up
business development and e-commerce solutions for top companies such as eBay, The
Principal Financial Group, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and The Federal Reserve.
Bob Weinschenk
Bob Weinschenk serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Company. Mr. Weinschenk
is a serial entrepreneur having founded two companies and successfully grown four
companies as CEO over the past ten years. Most recently, Mr. Weinschenk was co-founder
and CEO of Barfly Interactive Networks, a social network enabled advertising medium
targeted at 21-34 year olds, until it was acquired by TouchTunes in September 2008.
Mr. Weinschenk is also co-founder and a director of www.smartfoodshealthykids.com,
a video streaming site empowering parents to make educated food and environmental
choices for their children. Previously, Mr. Weinschenk was: President and CEO of
Britestream Networks, a supplier of the highest performance commercial encryption/encryption
technology which was sold to nCipher a public company listed on the LSE; CEO of
Pixim, a premier supplier of innovative semiconductors and software platforms for
digital image capture and processing that was spun out of Stanford University; and
General Manager of the Microelectronics Division of Lucent Technologies, where he
oversaw nearly $400 million in annual sales, and $1.3 billion in product development.
Mr. Weinschenk earned his Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, and
his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the Steven's Institute of Technology in
Hoboken, NJ.
Michael Ferrari
Michael Ferrari co-founded SmartyPig and serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO)
of the Company. Mr. Ferrari is responsible for both internal and external design
and innovation as well as managing and prioritizing web developer projects and workload.
Mr. Ferrari has more than 15 years of entrepreneurial experience in developing strategic
marketing and technology initiatives on behalf of Fortune 500 companies. Previously,
Mr. Ferrari served as a director at The Integer Group, an Omnicon Group affiliate,
which is one of the largest promotions agencies in the country. Mr. Ferrari earned
a B.A. in psychology and business administration from DePauw University.
Jon Gaskell
Jon Gaskell co-founded SmartyPig and serves as President for the Company. Mr. Gaskell
is responsible for exploring new partnership possibilities, international research,
and maintaining relationships with financial partners. He also works with public
relations firms both in the U.S. and abroad acting as the main press contact. Mr.
Gaskell is an accomplished journalist and entrepreneur, whose experience includes
the formation of a publishing company sold to a group of investors led by the former
president of NBC News. Mr. Gaskell has significant experience in the media industry
and is a published author. Mr. Gaskell earned an M.A. in media studies and journalism
from Drake University and a B.A. in English from Lake Forest College.
Sean McMurray
Sean McMurray serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of SmartyPig and is principally
responsible for managing the integration with SmartyPig partner banks. Management
of integration includes satisfying all regulatory and compliance issues, monitoring
risk and security during and post integration, designing accounting and tax solutions
on the financial aspects of SmartyPig, and managing training and interaction between
SmartyPig and the partner bank. Mr. McMurray is also the founder and director of
DataVision, Inc. DataVision provides security and infrastructure for a variety of
financial and technology related institutions including SmartyPig. Mr. McMurray
specializes in the development and implementation of information technology platforms
designed to enhance software conversion, statistical analysis and web enablement
solutions. In conjunction with DataVision, Mr. McMurray has provided such assistance
to notable financial services companies including Wells Fargo & Company, Bank
of America and The Principal Financial Group. Mr. McMurray received his B.A. in
business administration from Iowa State University.
Dan Schulz
Dan Schulz serves as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of SmartyPig. Mr. Schulz's
responsibilities include coordinating and managing the programming team as well
as programming solution designer. Mr. Schulz has more than 20 years of information
systems experience, focusing primarily on large-scale software development projects
in the insurance, healthcare and financial services industries while working with
a multitude of Fortune 500 companies including Accenture Ltd., Ameriprise Financial,
Inc., The Principal Financial Group, 3M Co., and Wells Fargo & Company. Mr.
Schulz earned a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa.
Suzin Wold
Suzin Wold serves as Senior Vice-President, Product & Marketing where she oversees
the development and management of the redemption product suite (General Purpose
Reloadable and Gift Cards) as well as SmartyPig's marketing efforts. Most recently
Ms. Wold was Group Vice-President at Blackhawk Network, a market leader in card-based
financial solutions and the largest provider of third-party prepaid cards. While
at Blackhawk Ms. Wold was instrumental in the creation and development of the first
retail Gift Card Mall program and was a pioneer in the Open Loop category. Prior
to Blackhawk Network Ms. Wold held leadership positions at LeapFrog, PlanetRx.com,
Clorox and Procter & Gamble. Ms. Wold earned an MBA from the University of Virginia
and a BBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Texas-Austin.
Rad Weaver
Rad Weaver is the Vice President of Business Development for McCombs Enterprises
and serves on the SmartyPig Board of Managers. He is a partner in many companies
including: Plum Grove, Ltd.; Patton Medical Devices; 21st Century Foods, and European
Divergence Fund. He is a board member of Media Excel; General LED; and Aridien.
Mr. Weaver also serves on the board for National Broadcast Company and on the Advisory
Board for Emergent Technologies Fund IV.
Bruce Knox
Bruce Knox is a member of the McCombs Partners team that manages investments in
a diverse group of portfolio companies including SmartyPig and Red McCombs Media.
Previously, Mr. Knox served as CEO and director of Interactive Remarketing, a company
he co-founded to acquire the assets of an eBay Motors' subsidiary. Mr. Knox's involvement
with eBay began in 1999 when he negotiated the sale of his company to eBay and subsequently
served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of an eBay Motors
subsidiary.
Shawn Rosenzweig
Shawn Rosenzweig serves as Managing Partner of SmartyPig and sits on its Board of
Managers. Mr. Rosenzweig concurrently focuses on infrastructure development projects
at McCombs Enterprises. Previously, Mr. Rosenzweig held the position of Executive
Vice-President at Bayoud & Company, a private investment firm concentrating
in public-private partnerships and strategic ventures. He began his career in the
mergers and acquisitions division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Rosenzweig holds
a position on the Board of Advisors for Fluid Innovation Group, a software commercialization
firm whose partners include Boeing, Microsoft, and the Mayo Clinic.
Michael Coppola
Michael Coppola is President of Coppola Enterprises, a real estate development and
management company, is an independent director and advisor for SmartyPig and a past
director of West Bank. Mr. Coppola has a diverse entrepreneurial background having
co-founded several companies with Sean McMurray in the technology Industry, including
DataVision, Businessolver.com, which partners with Fortune 500 Company Principal
Financial, and Workcomp.net, which was acquired by Ingenix.
